Topic: Possibly a major problem

I was helping a friend reformat his computer using the Windows restor disk. I used my external Maxtor HD to back up his files. I forgot to disconect it when I booted from the cd, and I think I might have accidentaly deleted the partiton, but did not format the drive. Is there any way that I can re-partion it without loosing the data? If not, If I hook it up to a linux system, would it be able to read the unpartioned HD? I really need the information on the hd.

From what I can tell, It is possible to do this by using partition magic, which I do have. I just wanted to know if there is a remote chance it is possible.

If its not, can some one recomend a good data recovery software?

Do, or do not.

Re: Possibly a major problem

if its a fat32 partition you can probably just repartition it and the data will still be there,if its ntfs then probably not, not sure if some software can get it back though
