Topic: Login successful --> You are not logged in. ??

Hi! I am new to PunBB and have looked through the support forums trying to find an answer to this question, but so far I haven't had any luck.

The problem I am encountering, is that quite a few of my users who all have various OSs and Browsers (IE6,Mozilla,etc..) are not able to login the forum!? They can Register without any problems but as soon as they enter in their Username with the Password provided via Email it says they user is successfully logged in and then after the redirect back to the forum index instead of having a

You are not logged in.

I have been unable to simulate this problem on my own machine (WinXP,IE6), but it seems that others are having real trouble with it. sad

Any suggestions on how I might remedy this?

Do they have cookies disabled or being blocked by some security app.

That was my first thought, but surely the standard settings of IE or Mozilla would at least ask whether you want to accept a cookie?? These are not very "computy" people, so they wouldn't know how to change the settings anyway, probably....

...is there no way of making PunBB run in such a way that people don't have to fiddle with cookie-settings first?

In config.php, make $cookie_domain like this:
$cookie_domain = '.monkeybizness.de';

I already have that Entry in there... still the Problems occur sad

Any other suggestions?

That they access it using www. ?
I really don't know, their browsers are configured oddly tongue

I just logged in fine using IE6 and Firefox. I tried accessing it with and without the "www" and it made no difference. I'm running all browsers with the default cookie settings which is what I would expect your users to be doing. Is there something odd about your users, are their ISP using proxies or something like that. Are they all running zone alarm or some other privacy app with cookie blocking on.

Try delete your cookies and try again,
did you have a local copy of you site, for simulating it offline?

If your people come crazy, you will not need to your mind any more.
