The point was that it is NOT powered by ITC. It is powered by PunBB and should say so. The copyright is also illegal. You can leave the copyright off if you have to but you cannot substitute your own copyright.

On my sites, I run 6 different open source web apps.
PunBB is just one of them, no other app that I run requires anything of me in the footer. I can take any app and make it look however I want, linking back to the developer site is a courtesy, nothing more.
I can place whatever copyright I want in the footer, cause it's my content, irregardless of the app that created it. Is there a copright line for UltraEdit in the source of PunBB?
This same type of thread keeps popping up from time to time and it only serves to piss off users.

Mainly the "Powered by" thing is the issue.
True - the content is copyright the owner, but it is powered by punBB.
Paul- I think it's more that he can't put that the board is his copyright...But the content is. So...technically, why can't he?
I mean - If you can take the original copyright off but leave a powered by link, why can't he put that his site is his own?

Here is explain. I'm from Bosnia. When i download forum in language not be Bosnian. Than i translate all to Bosnian including footer and all other. So i'm adjust Forum to my users can orient in forum.

faax - All they ask is that you don't put that it's powered by your site...Because it isn't. It's powered by punBB - and provide a link back to http://punbb.org.

I think legally you can do what you want. But it is also a common courtesy to give credit where credit is due.
