Re: PunBB 1.2.5
I've done 1.3 to 1.25 and it's ok.
Why does so many people think that they got a version that doesn't exist!

Two bugs have surfaced since the release of 1.2.5. To fix these bugs, apply the following changes:
http://dev.punbb.org/changeset/172
http://dev.punbb.org/changeset/173I might release a revised version or fix up some other things I have piled up and release 1.2.6. We'll see. For now, I suggest you apply these changes.
I think I'll wait until 1.2.6.
It exists there only (and anywhere people download it)
I did it
Rickard you work too much
http://punbb.org/changelogs/ <= No 1.2.4 to 1.2.5 ?
Upgraded fine :-) I even managed to change the two bugs without having to ask for any help :-) I'm so proud of myself lol.
Thanks,

thanks for the second link. I was about to go nuts because the CODE tag wasn't working properly on my recently installed board.

Did you ever have a chance to add the changes to 1.2.5? Or do we still need to do them ourselves. Or maybe 1.2.6 is coming out in the next couple of days? Just curious.
I guess what I'm really asking is, is 1.2.5 stable enough to install and use for a while? Or should I wait for another release that might be coming out soon?
I think you should wait for 1.2.6, it might not be this far away
1.2.5 is stable as long as you make those 2 fixes, and you have no idea how far away 1.2.6 is
1.2.6 shouldn't be too far away. I just need to get back into the game and fix a number of minor bugs.
Sorry, but I am very new to PunBB, and I do not know how to do these mods:
http://dev.punbb.org/changeset/172
http://dev.punbb.org/changeset/173
Yes, I am VERY new!
Can someone show me the way?
Snoogly, the simplest way: on each page you just linked, you have a link to the last version of the file. Copy the content (like http://dev.punbb.org/file/trunk/upload/ … hp?rev=173) from <?php to the last line of the code) and copy it into the file of the same name, then upload the new file edited.
i would like to ask the developers to reconsider their versioning policy...
i would like to make a port (package) of punbb for openbsd and issues like
"here is version 1.2.5 but you should also apply these 2 patches"
make packaging impossible...
if you don't like (for whatever reason i can't imagine) to increase the version number,
at least make it different in any other way: 1.2.5 -> 1.2.5a, 1.2.5p0, or whatever else.
please read this document which tries to show a bit of insight into the work of
packagers (as opposed to the work of developers):

thank you for your time and the great board app.
This is the only time Rickard has done this as far as I know
And given the amount of stuff fixed, I can't see 1.2.6 being all that far off
ok were is the last change log with fix to 1.2.5 to go from 1.2.4 to 1.2.5
Ataxy: I've completely forgot about that. I'll get on it.
Ehh.. I downloaded the hdiff:s 1.2.2 -> 1.2.5, 1.2.3 -> 1.2.5 and 1.2.4 -> 1.2.5
becasue i couldn't remember which version I had installed on my "test-server" at home.
It turned out I had 1.2.2....
Now, the thing is that the hdiff from 1.2.2 -> 1.2.5 doesn't seem to have some of the fixes present
in those other hdiffs.
Whats that about? Do i have to upgrade to 1.2.3 and 1.2.4 first?

`
thx i appreciate
bubach: Hmm. Can you give me an example?
Doh! Something must have went wrong when i downloaded the .html
Now I can see that everything is in that file: http://punbb.org/download/hdiff/hdiff-1 … 1.2.5.html
When i downloaded it, it was about 25% that size.. :S
OK, so because I've been a very bad Forum Admin, I've neglected my forum to the point that it is running on version 1.1.2 - which, I suspect, is not good. So, any advice on how to upgrade smoothly? The hdiff doesn't appear to go back that far -- though I'd would be willing to go line-by-line if necessary... Come to think of it, I think I'll just take the current code-base file-by-file and compare it with mine and make the necessary changes... were any DB changes made along the way?
OK, here's what you should do (note that if you have any mods they'll be lost, although I'm sure some can be brought back, since we're not deleting the database)
Download PunBB 1.2 and copy over all your files with those
Get the 11_to_12_update.php script and run it
Download PunBB 1.2.5, overwrite the files, and run the update script in the extras folder there
