Topic: Problem with avatar deletion..

having a weird problem with avatars.. when a user adds an avatar and then tries to delete it, the old avatar keeps popping up (but with the new images's dimensions). I look on the server and the file gets removes from the img/avatars/ dir when deleted, but no matter what the old avatar keeps on coming back.

note that if you uplaod an avatar with a different extension it'll change that properly, but still fails to upload a new avatar with the same extension.

this is a new install with only very minor mods to layout etc etc..

its probably your browser caching the old avatar, just press refresh

This problem happens because the uploaded avatar gets the exact same name as the old image.
I would suggest that the name of avatars change when they are replaced, so the browser recognises the change.
I get questions about this on my forum all the time!

Funny thing, I've never encountered it myself. What browser are you using?

It happens with FF and IE, but I think the cache-settings is what makes the difference.
