Topic: I've been Hacked.

Hi, I've recently been hacked. This comes at a pretty crappy time as I was planning on upgrading my install this week (I've been busy with my site to give the forums their proper attention), can anyone help? Would installing the latest upgrade sort things out or is the problem much deeper? The forum can be found at www.brokenkode.com/board

I was running 1.2.4 I've just upgraded to 1.2.6 and it's done nothing, that twat is still on there. The forum is meant for users of my wordpress rin and manji theme.

Re: I've been Hacked.

Well, you'll have to undo whatever damage he did (which seems basically to be changing all the forum names/descriptions and the board name/description) and then delete his account (or just remove his admin status)

Re: I've been Hacked.

there is a "max" user he is administrator kill hem
try to find another administrator users and make them members

If your people come crazy, you will not need to your mind any more.

Re: I've been Hacked.

Quickie question how do I demote an administrator? Also does the latest version of punbb stop this sort of thing?

Re: I've been Hacked.

Change his member user group from Administration in member profile

Re: I've been Hacked.

Thanks Zaher, everything seems to be ok now, it's pretty annoying, and I'm glad it was only that, but is this sort of thing common with punbb?

Re: I've been Hacked.

No matter what forum software you use, keeping up with the latest version is important.  Once the script kiddies discover a vunerability in a version of forum software, your board is not safe.  By upgrading to the latest version you can hopefully stay ahead of the hackers.
