Topic: Assistance with going from PHPBB 2.0.16 to PunBB

I had a few questions before I convert my forums, as I want to make sure that I'm doing everything correctly (as my users do not want to reregister).

I have read the install and readme files however I have found them too unspecific for what I'm trying to do.

I currently have the phpbb forums installed to usr/www/forums

I want to put punbb in the same spot.

Do I just totally remove the forums folder that contains phpbb, then create a new forums folder, then install Punbb and run the converter so it converts the database over?

Any clarification would be immensely helpful!

What is probably best is to install PunBB at say www.site.com/test/ and then convert the database. If everything goes well you can then delete phpbb and rename /test/ to /forums/ et voila.

Gotcha. Do I make another database when doing the punbb install? or just point the punbb installer to my existing phpbb database then convert?
