Keeping a common auth system on a website that uses lots of scripts like punbb, dokuwiki, dotclear, really is a pain... Until now I never managed to get Punbb use a third party authentification system. Would it be possible to improve the authentification system so that punbb would be able to use login/passwords from another database? I'd love it 
EDIT: sorry would probably better fit in the Requests forum.
i wouldn't think it would be that difficult to do really, you'd need to edit the registration, login and i think the check_cookie function.
it really isn't that easy 
I wonder if hacking the check_cookie would be enough, if yes then that's great.... i should give it a try... but as far as I remember, it might get a bit more complicated than just that
