Topic: Huge threads: bad or not?

Just a question about performance.
My site has some pretty big threads, some with more than 10.000 posts in one thread (for real..)
Is this bad for performance, or should I just leave them be?

I know that some software can't handle large threads, but it seems to be working fine on my site.
Any input on this?

It all depends on your server tongue Ofcourse, it will bring performance down. But not too much I guess.

It really shouldn't affect performance in any noticeable way. More posts of course means more work for the database, but the number of topics to which these posts belong should be irrelevant.
