Topic: Announcement HTML, can't log in

I added a link in my announcement, and forgot to close the <a>. I tried to log in, but instead of logging in, it would take me to the website in the link I didn't close. I had to manually create a separate html page with a form to log me in.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening, and is there an easier way to fix it?

Yes, open phpMyAdmin and edit the announcement manually =P

Moving. This is not a bug, it is user error.

I think the answer to the question was to remove <pun_announcement> from main.tpl and admin.tpl which prevents it from being output at all, login, correct the error and then restore <pun_announcement> to the template files.

Or if you feel comfortable with doing so you can edit config_cache.php to change the announcement text (and then change it in the database after you login, of course)

All of this of course assumes that the admin has access to the server. If this for example is a pre-installed board on a commercial host one, I assume, is screwed.

I think "view source" of html web page, then modify it by remove or add </a>, save it to you computer, open it and login by the local html page.

If your people come crazy, you will not need to your mind any more.
