what is the default font used by the forums? I'm wondering for the rest of my site, so they all match.

Depends on the style. But for the basic styles (Cobalt, Oxygen, Mercury, etc), the font family is:
Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif.

Size 11.
