Topic: integrating PunBB within our website

We have developed a "social networking  website (Php mySQL) requiring users to register and login. As our system has internal messaging, we didnt a BB that had that feature and PunBB looks good. Would like  to know if it is a big deal for our Techies to integrate Punbb within so that users dont have to register a second time. If there are any links someone could point us to?
