There's a big difference between lack of activity and lack of activity checked into the subversion repository.
Although I agree that progress reports would be nice, I think it's more important that Rickard focus on development than "keeping us updated" and, well, focus on his own life outside of PunBB (although I can't say that I can speak for him, either).

Mark: I wasn't totally clear, what I mean was of course progress reports from the devs, on 1.3.
Yes checking the activity in the repository is a totally different thing from a progress report.
I agree with pogenwurst but at the same time it takes about 2-3 minutes to write up a quick "what's going on"-post. Even if it's just "Totally busy right now, haven't had time, the dog just barfed on my keyboard..." or whatever.

Paul is working on the markup, committing his changes to SVN.
Some of us are testing SVN for validation and usability requirements.
Rickard is working offline and will start making his SVN commits as soon as Paul is done.
