Topic: REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

I apologise if this has been asked before.

I need to force users to use real names (yes, I know we'll get a zillion John Smiths but I am dealing with idiots) and wonder if it is possible to make email adresses mandatory on registering.

TIA.

Re: REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Email addresses or real names?

Re: REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Both!

I need to have username as a "real name" i.e., not a pseudonym - frankly, that can't be done: I'll just ban anyone not using a pseudonym.

But I do need to make email addresses mandatory at registration, otherwise I have no way of talking to a user other than by the forum.

Hope you can help.

Re: REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Administration Options -> Verify registrations
Set to "Yes" and it will require a valid email address wink

Re: REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Of course, I had done that.  Just couldn't read the email address as too faint!

Is there any way to change a username (I know admin can change theirs)?

Thx.

Re: REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Admins can change theirs or anyone else's, moderators can change other peoples (assuming they have the ability to edit profiles enabled)

Re: REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Great!  How, though - we didn't think Admins could change usersnames.

Re: REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

OK - will just highlighting and changing a username work?

Re: REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Just click on a person's profile: the field with username in it is editable for exactly that reason tongue

Re: REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Add a field for real name to register.php, make sure the data is inserted when the new user is, and ensure that the data is filled in
