Topic: 503 Error: authentication not enabled
I'm getting this error when i want to use an external SMTP server. Why doesn't it work ?
I'm using smtp.orange.nl with correct username/password.

You're sure the info is correct?
Does it need SSL or something like that?
I'd ask the people running the server

Without seeing the whole error message it's hard to say, but that specific 503 error code sounds like the SMTP server requires authentication (SSL probably) and authentication settings were not enabled/specified.

That would require modding the script PunBB uses to send emails
However, talk to your host first. I think it's more likely that something else is happening
