Topic: Cannot find server or DNS error

I'm just trying to eliminate a possible PunBB error before chasing things up with the host.

Every 30 or 40 requests made to the forum, such as clicking on a paging link or viewing a thread, results in 'cannot find server or dns error'. A quick refresh of the page brings it back to life and all is well. I can't reproduce the error when requesting static html pages on the host but they could be cached and may mask the problem.

My question is, is there anything in cache control, time outs, sessions or anything that could possibly bring up a 'cannot find server' error, which is fixed by a quick refresh of the page?

Thanks in advance.

Ed.

Cannot find server error wouldn't be related to PunBB, that's your browser

The browser gives the message yes, but the error lies along the path of DNS, server, application. It's one of the three. The error occurs in Opera, Firefox and IE.

My point was that if your browser was giving you the message, you're having trouble reaching the server. I'm not aware of any way PunBB could trigger that error. Sorry for being unclear before smile

Thanks for your help. I'll chase the host up.
