Topic: New registrations with no posts

I get a fair few people (maybe 2 a week) registering on my site, but then not making a post.  I can't quite figure out why and I'm curious.  Does anyone have any ideas?

probably just lurkers..  every forum has its fair share of people who don't post, for one reason or another..  many people register either out of habit (i.e. as soon as they visit a new site they set-up their profile) or to see if it opens up more features, even though they have no intention of posting..

my forum is probably a 60:40 ratio of posters vs. registered lurkers!

I don't think they're spam bots.  I'm not getting any spam posts.

The lurkers theory is interesting.  I would say my ratio of posters/non-posters is also roughly 60/40.

i've noticed simillar things on many punbb forum.
ie search on google MarkLikvor  or PolZegerully ... this impact phpBB, IPB, SMF, PunBB.

all account are in "-12" hours GMT and authour of the "bot" leaving @ barak-online.net...

how could we avoid their registrations ?

Iv got about 1000 users that never made a post... Just lurking around.
