Topic: Mods and upgrading: planning ahead

I have not installed any mods yet, only plugins -- because I am afraid that my minor tweaks plus all the various mods' tweaks of the php files will break whenever there is an upgrade and I would need to redo everything by hand. All the Mods just say "affected files: viewtopic.php, post.php" etc. Should I worry?

Go ahead and install them. Any mods that will be updated in the future will include a README -UPGRADE file telling you what to edit to upgrade from pervious version. And affected files are the files edited by hand for that particular mod.

asardar: You might have to manually do the updates to PunBB by hand if they interfere with your changes, but you always have the hdiffs or the patch files to use.
