It's a huge download, 127MB, wonder what it contains?
It's a virtual machine running Ubuntu (w/ 2.6.x kernel)? I guess it has PunBB pre-installed.
Edit: It's Ubuntu v6.06.2 with PHP v5.1.2, MySQL 5.0.22, and PunBB v1.2.14 all included and setup (you just enter the admin username/password/e-mail for PunBB).
Edit: If you try it, you can use port 3000 to configure the networking options.
Edit: It includes the (PunBB) backup plugin too.
Edit: Forgot to mention Apache v2.0.55.
Ok, I see, it's an image for a virtualization engine.
Wonder why they picked Ubuntu when there's a few minimalistic Linux versions out there?

because they wanted usability not purely minimalism?

Well you don't need KDE to run PunBB, but yes Ubuntu is a rather nice distro.
I just came across this today, and with recent VMWare Fusion beta for MacOS-X I had to check it out. Pretty cool...

If KDE is on there, I never saw it. The machine just boots to an informational text screen.

At *only* 127 MB, I imagine that it's Ubuntu Server Edition or something. However I haven't used the image so I don't know.
this is the server editions then there is no gui startup beside the one for punbb...
u might have to start the gui kde interfaces ur self.
