Topic: Website hacked - everything deleted except databases. How to restore?!

Hi!

I'm doing a website for a client and some asswipe has hacked their website, deleting the entire contents.

Shouldn't cause to many problems, but I'm not sure how to restore the forum. The database is intact, I'm not sure which version of PunBB was being used but it was quite recent. I've uploaded the new files to the server but would like to use them with the old database data so everyone doesn't have to sign up again.

I'm sure it's not too difficult but can't figure it out, if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much obliged!

Think I'll need to set up a new config.php? What do I put in this and what other steps need to be taken?

1. Install the forum with a different db prefix/db

2. Edit the config.php to use the same prefix of your old db

That's all you need to do

That's not necessary. Simply download a fresh copy of PunBB, upload all the files, look in the extras folder for example_config.php, edit the file so that it has the proper information, and upload it as config.php

Also, do you know how you were hacked?
