Trying to install PunBB, and keep getting this error:
An error occured on line 58 in file d:\hosting\lauralynn\forums\include\dblayer\mysql.php.
PunBB reported: Unable to connect to MySQL server. MySQL reported: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client
I have created the MySQL database...
Please advise... thanks a bundle!!

Have you tried using MySQLi?
So, how do I enable the MySQLi database...

Your host will have to have it installed. If they don't, ask them for it, they should install it if they'll be using a newer MySQL version.
If it's installed, it's in the drop-down in install.php.
I am looking at my Install.php and have clicked on the "database type" drop down, correct?
My only option in that drop down is "mysql standard"...
Well, then you'll have to contact your host.
By the way, what PHP and MySQL version are you running?
I am hosted through GoDaddy, assuming your talking about Mysql through starfield tech and php through myphpadmin

That site would work if I were using an older version of mysql, however, the version I am using is 5.0

d:\hosting? that sound like it is on your machine instead of on godaddy server?

Godaddy does Windows hosting 
And the link I gave you applies to 5.0. Read it 
if she got a windows host service... then she needs to change over to a linux server... alot of issue with windows based servers running.. mysql ....
good friend had to change over to linux he got a hosting account with godaddy...

Really? I've never had any issues 
for some reason he couldnt get it going even with there help. so ask them to switch his account to a linux server and within a few mins punbb running smooothly... might be there guru he was on the phone with reading from a book.. called godaddy support for dummy's!
