Earlier I took the plunge and switched from miniBB 1.7f to PunBB; Chacmool's super migration tool (v.1.0.4) ensured the process was a painless one--thank you, Chacmool!
After the initial jubilation, I noticed a problem: messages imported from miniBB have all lost their text formatting; the messages appear with markup tags, like in the example below:
This is a sample message content. <strong>bolding is gone.</strong><br /><br />Line breaks are ignored. <em>And no italics?</em> Uughh.
I am seeking an efficient way to restore the formatting of each post; any help/advice will be gratefully received.

Since you need to study for an exam, I shall be more than happy to test the converter for you. Mind you, I haven't any experience switching forum systems before, so I am a total newbie at this. You can reach me at:

No worries, Rickard, I understand, and I do appreciate your taking the time to respond to my post. 
I shall just keep using miniBB then.
There is actually no real need for me to change forum software, because miniBB serves my purposes quite well. It is just that a couple of users recently asked for a few non-essential, but nice to have features (e.g. user ranking by number of posts, who's online, private messaging) - features that miniBB does not currently offer in its base installation - which prompted me to look for a quick win-win solution. It is probably silly to consider switching systems just for a few extras that may or may not in future become available; therefore, I am sure you would understand if I said that I would only consider switching to PunBB if it could be done painlessly and without losing existing data.
