Okay, thanks.

Is there an expiry on this? Or does the feature list every thread you've posted in until it is deleted?

We will be using a custom script written by one of our programmers.

I worked with a dark skin first because almost every other related board is white.

I'll get to work on a clean white version.

Thanks for the info fellas.

I'll test it some more later, but basically it seems that if you've posted using the name "Admin" and migrate those posts. Then change your name to "Me" on the new board. All migrated posts still show the posters name as "Admin"

So... All new posts would show the name change, but all migrated posts from the old board show the old name.

I've had a couple of hours to work on my skin today. Feedback welcome smile

Okay... There's a few issues.

(1) If you've been posting using the name "Admin" on your IPB, then migrate and change the name to "Me" it still shows as "Admin" in the posts. Even after running all the clean up tools.

(2) If you change the name to "Me" on the mother-board before migration, it still shows as Admin in the posts on the migrated board.

The main problem here for me is that my members (of over 8,000) have had the option to change their display name once a week, just for fun. Often they change it to something silly to represent their mood etc. It's not going to be great if their old posts are displayed with the display name they were using at the time of posting.

I've tested the migration a few times now but don't seem to be getting anywhere. As soon as I run the clean up and recount tools the post names are reverted.

Nice mod there but not what I had in mind. I'm looking to alter the page url.

So "http://punbb.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=17240"

Becomes "http://punbb.org/forums/modifications/friendly-urls"

I have implemented a FURL system with IPB on another project. Would like to see the same thing with PunBB.

Nice mod this one - Subscribed for developments

I've been trying to migrate IPB to PunBB during the last couple of days.
The conversion is successful. However, the migration has problems with the display name feature on IPB.
The problem being that if you change the username on the migrated board, the posts still show the previous username/display name.

I've tried changing the name on the IPB before the migration, and although it all seems to have worked, when I run the rebuild cache and recount stats the username in posts reverts back!

I could do with finding a solution to this problem really because I have a very large memberlist and it's likely that somebody will request a display name change at some point.

Will do. Thanks Matt

Okay, thanks for the input there.

I do all my design on a Vaio Crystal LCD, which is a bright, high definition TFT. I've just looked at the skin on a regular monitor and I see how much darker it looks.

As I said, there is a light option for members, but I'll work on the default.

I've just successfully migrated my board. I now need a database query to change all members to the new default skin.

It's okay... human error caused by incorrect table prefix

I'm trying to use the migration tool to convert IPB to PunBB.

I've followed the instructions but I see a blank page when I attempt to start to conversion process.

I've tried separate and same database installations but still just a blank page.

Any ideas?

There's a light skin option for the members who don't like our default skin.

And there will always be hundreds of websites devoted to these subjects. It's all about personal choice.
Our collective projects currently have over 12,000 members, and the previous Admin Board had around 600 active members. So I'm pretty sure I can market this project given enough time. But we're not trying to compete with the established websites or break any records. We just want to develop our own information resource which will act as a release base for our own projects.
Our team includes well established designers and programming professionals who develop a range of products such as web scripts, web tools, web templates, forum skins etc which we release absolutely FREE and are only available via our sites.
If the site has just 50 active members it will all be worthwhile.

We're about to launch a new section devoted to PunBB which will feature our own skins, skinning tips and graphics.
If you're joining us from this forum please register your interest in PunBB on the board smile

I figured out the problem.

I had removed the default style but hadn't set the new default in the admin options.

Maybe that's a minor bug in the script? If a style is removed, shouldn't it set a new default?

lol I've been working with Firefox. I'll look at IE compatibility shortly

Admin Board was originally developed as a UK web developer / designer network.

Earlier this year, we closed the site down to focus on a new project but have had lots of emails from members asking if we will reopen the website.
So, we have this week decided to relaunch the project with a real simplistic feel, and we've chosen PunBB to power the community.
We have a good team of established designers and programmers on hand to support people with their various dilemmas through a wide range of web related topics.

With a new but healthy interest in the PunBB project, it's likely to feature highly on the Admin Board. I personally have already started work on my first skins which I will eventually release on the site.

If you're a web designer, administrator, graphic designer, or just a rookie looking to jump on the learning curve and pick up some tips, please drop by and join our network. We'd love to have ya!

Is there any FURL plugin / mod available at the moment?

Yes of course, I realise how mods will create issues. But then, I have no desire to extend the core features. I'm looking for a clean, simplistic and secure system to replace a bloated IPB.
