You're right elbekko. Kinda forgot that one. Still a pesky bug though. My post was intended to be a quick fix not a final solution. I'm not a very experienced PHP developer. I was glad a simple change like that let me continue playing with PunBB.

Registered just to point this one out. In revisions 1610 and 1611 $db has been replaced by $pun_db. Tried to install rev 1611 today and got a blank screen after entering all the details needed for the installation (pre 1610 revisions installed fine). My first thought was to replace $pun_db with $db in install.php and it worked like a charm. So devs, might be an idea to change it back
