I changed dependency to jquery instead of jquery_y, but still doesn't seem to auto insert the slimbox...
There is a a lot more CSS customization to be done for the middle column not to fall off the middle. But this is not my extension.
In the spirit of opensource and the licence being GPL efforts from your side de-bugging or improving the extension would certainly be welcome...
Forks and re-releases with more/different features are encouraged as long as credit is given where due..!

Ok hang on:
lang/English/mail_templates/ or in your case
lang/Spanish/mail_templates
check all those files in there ending with .tpl are encoded UTF-8 - that should solve your problem with empty emails...
then use extensions to control spam;
pun_approval
stopforumspam extension
etc
1. Download PSPad

3. Check under format that UFT-8 is ticked
4. Save

it does, for all users except ADMIN
If you use the free programme PSPad (www.pspad.com) - you can check in menu under FORMAT - and easily change it there...
check the setting in profile aswell as admin - two places for yourself as admin.
check as guest....
Can you make sure that the file (welcome.tpl) is UTF-8 encoded , not ANSI ?
