4.1 is needed if you want to try to use punBB in UTF8 charset.

It's a good idea. It won't break punBB when it reach theses ID for itself ?

A plugin doesn't hack punBB (alter it's code) I think.

Ils sont pas bien ceux-ci ?

The ID are imported "as is" in punBB ? They are not updated with an auto_increment to preserve the existing posts/thread in the punBB forums ?

Arghhh

I have a question. Is it possible to import several forums into one punBB ?

Let's say I have 3 forums... A is running phpBB, B is running IPB, C is running vB. Can I use the importers tools/scripts to import A (for example into a A category), then B (idem), then C (idem) ?

I know there is a possibility of conflicts for same members logins, but I can live with any error handling there are (if there are any). Or, import only the posts (and forums) and ignore the members.

That would be *really* helpful.

Yep, that's it ! Can you release the code ?

So it's really a feature request :-)

In the meantime, there is the id anchors to use.

He was asking for the forum software to do that for him, like others soft do.

It's not a unreasonnable request, at all.

I think it would be good to be able to display only one category (and the forums in it), instead of the main index with all the categories/forums.

Is there a way of doing it now (even with hacking) ?

Are you using a decent browser ? (Firefox, Safari, ...) because I know there are issues with IE (surprise !)

If you are french, I recommend you Online because there is no transfer limit and it's kinda cheap (30EUR/year for 100MB).

I like OVH better. It's cheaper, but you have cronjobs, python, perl, system and bash exec via PHP or another, 5 (five) incremental backup accessible juste by ftp, 2 incremental backup of MySQL, even compiled C; and they have several thousands clients (so the backbones, routing, clusters and so on are really strong).

Textdrive has some thing over it, like ruby, postgres, but they are smaller, and somewhat more expensive.

The templates use <pun_char_encoding> but I can't find where I can setup this.

I would like to do some test with utf8, or if this is really unusable ( sad ) at least latin9 to be able to support euro character (and a few others).

Another question, if I change the charset after an install, do I need to alter the SQL tables as well ?

Nice work. You did it all by yourself, or you find some nice icon set and rules somewhere ?

Ok I got it, thx. I thought this was a clean url feature, and was looking for rewrite rule somewhere for my apache config wink

What is the use and purpose of the "redirect url" feature in the admin/edit forum panel ?

A forum search does not give me answer, and the FAQ doesn't too sad

Nope, that only hide it from the media specified if the UA handle CSS. Try it in Lynx, or via the cached version from Google, you will see what I mean :-)

Title system?

The "title" you get when you post alot... the ranking system.

the problem i can see is what you'll end up with is either loads of tpl files (basically one for each page on the site) or a very big core.tpl for little advantage since as far as i know the new css will allow for alot of the page to be moved around regardless of the order it appears in the actual html

Dos it allow to ignore some tools, or duplicate entries ?

For example, I would like to get rid of the title system, so it does not appear anywhere. On the other hand, I would like the breadcrumb (index>forum>thread) to appear at the begining and at the end of a thread/posts view.

Is there a simple way to do that (or things like that) now ?

Maybe by calling them from the templates ? That's usually how software like CMS (like Textpattern for example) do it, since it's the only place where everything come into places.
