Thanks for the suggestion, I think I'll leave it be and wait for an upated version of punBB, this particular mod suggests the timeout_visit be set to a long period of time, which doesn't really suit my site.

Thanks anyway once again!

Actually, not really. You can still set it to the normal timeout-time...Maybe just a little longer for conveniece sake.
See - the timer doesn't start until users stop browsing the site. It is reset every time they click a link.

So, the timeout time shouldn't matter. If they're idle, then it should time out - why not?

IMHO, I do think that this is a great idea to be implimented into punBB. I agree with nishkak on this issue (except for the phpBB issue), but I do think that it's just common sense that a post be counted as read as soon as it's read. Why do you need to know if you've posted a reply? You just posted it!
It shouldn't still be counted as unread... Just use logic.

What's a pity all people like these sort of gallery ... I click, and I click, and I click ... fed up with clicking !!! DHTML Tree would be perfect to browse a gallery (and 100% degradable)

But great stuff, however.

I agree - like I said: "Currently I'm looking into a different gallery system for programming reasons ". The reason you list is one of them.

No - this is how it's supposed to work.
The only way to fix it is through a mod. roll

Here's the best mod out there:
http://punres.org/viewtopic.php?id=321

The only thing about punBB - hope it doesn't put you off too much. Once you get past that, it's the best system out there.

It's also good to use for Email validation.

Actually, for that I would recommend http://pookmail.com/. It deletes all emails after 24 hrs and you never have to worry about anything.

Search can be your friend. wink

I love how it cut off the bottom of your post. *lol*

Wow...Gotta love it.

hcgtv - Impressive! What I've been doing recently is trying to spread themes along sBLOG, Singapore, and punBB so that people can get a matching site. Currently I'm looking into a different gallery system for programming reasons - I just don't think I'm ready to take the step up to CMS yet. wink
I'm an adherent of the KISS method.

hcgtv - In the end it was all worth it. But, as with my other projects - It's a work in progress. I hope to keep all my templates updated for each version of punBB to ensure maximum compatibility.

So, what that means is that any time anyone has any comments, suggestions, or the like - I'm always open. wink

Also, I set up that donations thing that you suggested.

btw theres a little bug in IE (not my fault i don't think) that the text for the title is slighly cut off

No, it's not your fault. I've noticed it too, but I think it's because of the size of the font or else the positioning of the letters. *shrugs*

Awesome!

*lol* Had I realized that you could do negative values for pixels, I would have fixed it long ago. Guess I missed that part of my class. *lol*

Alrighty - I've now released v1.0. Uses a Minima_base.css file now.  It should work perfectly. I even made the breadcrumbs smaller so that they won't look too ugly when they wrap. I couldn't figure out how to move them to a different line.
Enjoy!

hcgtv - About the donations thing - I'll be setting up a button and downloads section on my site sometime this weekend. Thanks for the tip!

Edit: Seems like punres is currently down. I'll have to wait for it to go back up. hmm
Edit again: It's back up, but it won't let me upload the Minima_base to the correct place. I'm going to post the correct files here, but over on punres I will still post this as a 1.0 release, just without the Minima_base.css.

Just change the import. Create a copy of base.css called base_minima.css and import that into minima.css instead of the normal base.css. Each style can have its own base file or didn't anybody realise that.

Hmmmm...That's a great idea!
So - I could have 3 files. Minima.css, Minima_cs.css, and Minima_base.css.
Awesome!
I'll have to check into that, but I'm still stuck on the absolute positioning thing.

Clue

Paul - No!!!!! You've found my kryptonite - absolute positioning! When it comes to this one aspect, I am soooo lost.

Also - I'm not sure how to go about setting the breadcrumbs in their own line. I understand the breadcrumb issue, I just don't really know how to go about that.

Changing a minimum of things to base.css is going to help a lot. I think I'll wait on a few of my templates I have waiting in the wings until then.

Alrighty - it's pretty much done now. I'm at version 0.9 and will only go to 1.0 once I figure out why there is a 5px gap in the border between #brdmenu and #brdwelcome.
I got the double-borders pretty much down other than that. I made a ton of cosmetic font changes and the such.

Again - with the topic part, I can't do much about that. I'm not sure where the variables for this width is defined, unless it's in base.css, which I refuse to screw with. I have been trying for a while to figure out how to get the postleft and postright to give each other space, but to no avail.

Anyone else be able to help with this?

I'm not sure that would work. I keep trying it, but double borders disappear in FF. *hmmmm*

I fixed submits and buttons to be flat. Same with text-areas. I found a non-intrusive way that allows for checkboxes to remain system-default! Yay!

Still stuck on the admin section tag, but it's pretty much done.

Wierd issue: That hack is working for IE, but somehow not  for FF. The input backgrounds are staying the default color in FF, but the correct (set) color in IE.
*hmmmm* Odd.

Well - I've been working on it a little more and have gotten it a little more refined.
The post view isn't so crowded on mine - but I cannot seem to get the double border on the top without including the welcome which makes it seem too crowded.

I still cannot figure out what class the background of the admin options are...You know- if you go to the admin section in your template, Connor, you can see the grey seperating the different parts.

Also, I'm currently working on the post indicators, but color matching with 4 more colors is hard...I'm getting there though.

Edit: fixed the post-indicators issue. I think it's almost done, other than some issues such as text-areas and the like.
Edit2: Cleaned up the footer and #brdstats. Tweaked some colors here and there. Next up - submits and text-areas. wink   Still can't find that tag for the admin section. sad

Damn!
Beat me to it...

Ok, Connor. I'm going to take a look at your CSS and try to mesh both of ours together.
This is what I got after around 20min work.

Well, after installing it, it looks like a great piece of software. Danged thing is that my test server doesn't have mod_rewrite installed, so I've got to get around to that.

Again - it'll take a little to get used to, but the flexibility I see is amazing. Both from a hardline aspect and a design aspect.

Edit: Fixed that and it works perfectly. big_smile
Gonna start mucking around and getting the design the way I want.

Fire Fusion - I once tried it out and you're right about the learning curve. I gave up for a while. But, that was mostly for design reasons. However, I've downloaded it to my test-server and I've decided to give it another try.

*shrugs* Wish me luck.

If you read the entire article, you would see that they also made numerous press-releases and other official statements regarding this over the past couple days.

What's funny is that the press release that I link to in my blog entry have already been changed. Not even 3 hors ago it read "A Winning Streak: Opera once again wins PC World's World Class Award for best Web browser". Now it reads  "Opera 8 is a PC World 2005 World Class Award Winner".

Hmmm....Not just a graphics screwup. They have also posted about it in their official blog and forums around the internet.

I know that software companies lie about how popular they are in order to draw in new customers, but its mostly done by skewing statistics and twisting the truth.

But I wouldn't think that a reputable company such as Opera would go and tell the blatent lie that they've been telling.

I mean - come on!
