When I chose PunBB over anything else, and I've tried just about everything, it was for it's lightness.

Me, it was for having a strict DTD, with intelligent use of tables, and validating. Next to that, being light and fast, both on the server and on the user. And of course, being under GPL.

I chose it because I was able to understand and modify the code, and I was bored with nothing better to do wink

EDIT 2: skulle vara fint med en Svensk forum på PunBB.org Rickard - varför finns det ej?

There was, but it was removed since we doesn't want to create language barriers between members. If you feel there are great need to discuss PunBB in swedish, you're free to open your own swedish board, as is the case with many other languages (french, german, russian etc).

There are already a few topics here with the exact same subject as this one, and they all come to the same conclusion: It all depends on what you need. PunBB and phpBB is targeting different audiences.

id assume that the extension would only "change/add" to the main punbb files, than you can add your own files.

No, you'll be able to add all kinds of files to an extension, but they will be located in the extension's folder (as it looks now).

I have a feeling we'll see more extensions than we've seen mods in the past wink

Hehe.. A funny thing about most PM systems today is that, when you receive a pm, you get a mail saying that you have received a pm. Instead of just sending the message right to your mailbox in the first place. Sometimes it's included in the mail though, but then you're still forced to visit the board in order to reply when you really just want to use your mail client. Seems rather redundant and stupid to me.

Congratulations on your new insights though smile

It already is a standard feature. Check the group permission page:

As Rickard said, a roadmap is great when you want to have a new release every 6th month (or whatever interval you chose). But what we're really trying to do here, is good software. Deadlines are not important, you can't rush perfection smile

That's not saying we'll continue to push new features into 1.3 until the end of time though, the major features are pretty much set in stone and can be found in several places. If you want even more details, take a look at the tickets on http://dev.punbb.org/.

We've also been discussing how to get out more info about 1.3 to the community, but we don't want to get ahead of ourselves.

As elbekko said, you can get the latest revision of 1.3 from the SVN: http://punbb.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=11795

Then you can play around as much as you like smile

I would have preferred it if they went the same path as Microsoft with their Xbox 360 and sold the player as an addon, thus reducing the price of the console itself.

They are able to do that because they don't plan on releasing games in the HD-DVD format, while Sony wants their ~30Gb for games. So the PS3 would be useless without the drive. However, I doubt any game studio will utilize that space.

I'm finding if increasingly difficult to justify buying any game or audio related equipment from Sony lately, what with all their insane & arrogant statements/lies.

People say they're going downhill. Their other markets hasn't been very good lately. Maybe they are desperate?

Also remember that despise that insane price, they lose money on every sold unit tongue (That's not saying they aren't making money from licenses and other stuff, I'm talking hardware)

You have always been allowed to remove it, but we prefer if you leave it in there: http://punbb.org/docs/faq.html#faq4_2

The reason why you should leave it in there is because PunBB's main way of spreading it through word of mouth and the "Powered by" links. But you are not forced to leave it there by any law or license.

What you're not allowed to mess with are the GPL preambles in the files.

I'll get one as soon as I can afford it.

That being said, I guess it'll take a few months tongue

You are allowed to do that.
