I will but I did compare it with an index file on another install I have (using textpad) and it claimed they were identical.

In fact all other pages seem to work, it is only the index page not showing.

All I get is <html><body></body></html>

I have just installed punBB, changed the permissions on the avatars and cache folders and saved the config file.

My index page is completely blank.

I went to the login page and that was there and I succesfully logged in but it then redirected me once again to the index page.

I compared my index page with the index page I have on another punBB installation that works and the files were identical.

Does this mean there is a problem with the database perhaps?

Any ideas?

I will have a probe around the database with phpMyAdmin and see if I can find anything.

Many thanks Chris.

Not got time to look at all that right now but will do very soon.

SPlendid, I'll try that in a little while.

Need to start working on trying to integrate the logins with those I already have on the site but I believe that that is for another thread...

Is it possible to have the redirect page only in certain cases?

Have to say I disagree.

I regularly use a forum / talkboard that doesn't have the redirect page for everything. This talkboard is used by thousands of usrs, many of them not very techy oriented at all but they all seem to manage pretty damned well. When I started using BBs that did have it I found it a hinderance and didn't think that it aided useablility at all.

When deleting etc it is good but I think that it is especially unecessary when adding a new post.

I have to agree. I ammore used to a forum / talkboard powered by a special version of webX the redirect page never appears and it has never caused problems. Then when I started using punBB and phpBB2 I found htis which seems very unecessary.

I had just come on here to post a similar question.

Oh well. Will have to try it out and see what happens.

I have a site that is login only. I don't people to have to log in to the forum as well. That should be automatic.

I think I will have to nick loads of bits from the register page and insert them into my own register script. Especially the sql bits and just use the punBB user table rather than the one I already had (or maybe cobble the two together)

Any suggestions.

I'll report back on how I am getting on over the next week (or so).
