I'll be happy to send you $5 if you can add 'Sort by Alphabetical' to the sort forum options list.

This is a mod that has been requested quite a bit. I've seen it done for one persons specific needs but what i'm asking for is to make it a standard sorting option in each Forums "Sort topics by" menu.

Alphabetical ordering would be really useful for certain forums which have constent updating but need an easy indexing option for users to find what they need, currently there's no real option for this. My example is a tour dates forum which 'should' order the topics according to the date in the title - which it can do via using 'Topic Start' but when a new tour date is announced that needs to fit in the middle somewhere, it can't be done and that starts to throw out the order and flow - this is where an Aphabetical sorting would work wonders in keeping the order regardless of when it's modified/added to.

Can we please get a mod made up which will allow Alphabetical sorting (which starts with numbers first) be added to the Sort By drop down so it can be used on all forums or just specific ones if we wish? (i'd do it if i knew how!)

It would be a popular mod, there's plenty of need for it.
Thanks.

I was just thinking a good mod would be the ability to have a 'Print' link with the "Edit | Quote" links on each post.

I'm guessing it would be something like a php file(s) that's called from this 'print' link which then strips the content in the posts and prepars them to a Printer templated/formatted page which can then be printed using the browsers usual print buttons, just like the major news sites do to save on printer ink and paper.

The printer link could ask what you want to print - First Post Only OR Entire thread (showing post count) for example (and any other options you can think of?).
It then opens a new window which shows the printer preview that the browser can then send to the Printer in a correct format.

I've got a Forum where users post guitar tabs so having the ability to print a tab post which, rather than printing the whole browser page with graphics/colours etc, it just takes the post, keeps the formatting of the post but writes new header and foot HTML for it which, in this case, could display proper sheet music headers for example. When they print a tab post, they can know that it will print properly and for me i can control how that print will look- branding the content with html headers for example.

I guess it would need to know what the parser file knows to keep the formatting, it would need to reference a new header/footer files and probably a lot of php!

Has anything like this been done? I reckon it would make a great addition, if someone wants to make it and take all the credit - PLEASE DO!!!  smile I can't do it, don't know PHP well enough!

I've read through this thread and sussed out a few issues and i've got it working but not fully.

Basically, Attachments are only visable for Admins along with the ability to attach files in posts.

Originally it would only display the attachments for Admins after the post was edited, i missed a part of the mod edit thou for that.
After going through all the changes again and making sure they were all correct, Admins were able to post attachments without needing to edit the post for them to show.

I really want members, mods and admins to be able to post attachments and for Guests not to be able to post or view them.

Is there anything you can suggest?

Thanks

On second thought, i guess you can get custom icons in via using the HTML option in creating a description for each Forum but adding the icons into a new column would be better.

That's what i'm meaning here.
Thanks.

I'd love to be able to put custom icons infront of each Forum title to make each Forum more easily identifiable.
It can be seen at this non-punbb forum:
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/index.php

Would it be possible to do with Punn? It's handy when having a few forums that are designed to be specific to certain topics.

Any help would be appreciated and i'm also looking for another job, A Gig Guide - which i think could be easily done by a php expert that knows Pun backwards, i'm willing to pay for that one if anyone is interested in knowing more.

Cheers.
