Nope does not matter.
But I would set up your domain so that it can only use 1 of them.

Agree.
We are just considering different ways: what would be needed by users.
And please point me at once: where do we loose PunBB philosophy. PunBB core is kept fast and lightweight.

Ideally the only package PunBB should release is a fast and lightweight one, this way even the beginner gets the fast and lightweight version.

Anyway if you want an idea... then maybe you could use something along the lines of this http://www.mootools.net/core. You could have a page where people could create the package. Much better because people will only install what they require. wink

This wont happen. You choose which official extensions you would like to download.

Why not? We could provide two PunBB distributions: pure one and with extensions bundled (but not enabled).

Obviously if you want to move even FURTHER away from PunBBs philosophy. You need an extension (official or not) then you download it and install it.

Stop with the pointless things please.

PunBB does not have control over all PunBB forums. If admin and mods have left im afraid its tough luck.

Close.

You can use this mod...
http://www.punres.org/desc.php?pid=165

Or you can create a page with the following code..

<?php

define('PUN_ROOT', './');
define('PUN_QUIET_VISIT', 1);
require PUN_ROOT.'include/common.php';

//Set the page title here
$page_title = pun_htmlspecialchars($pun_config['o_board_title']) . ' / New page 1';
define('PUN_ALLOW_INDEX', 1);
require PUN_ROOT.'header.php';
require PUN_ROOT.'include/parser.php';

?>
        <div class="block">
            <h2><span>Box 1</span></h2>
            <div class="box">
                <div class="inbox">
                    <p>

then add a link to your menu via the admin menu.

Any questions? wink

I have also moved to FluxBB.

I say moved... I will be keeping my Free PunBB Hosting going for the moment to see what Informer does next. If it comes to it then I will be converting the free hosting over to Flux as well.

I will leave the demo site up for 1.3 as the domain can not really be used for anything else. tongue

PunBB is and will always be free.. that has been promised (many times).
Plus adding a few links to the front of the site is not such a problem... just dont click them if they dont appeal.

Rickard one question I do have...
Will it stay as "Powered by PunBB"? But obviously the link will be directing to punbb.informer.com instead or will it change to "Powered by Informer"? with the same above link. Any chance of clarifcation on this. wink

Hi,

I have two domains....  example.com example2.com
I use one database for both. But have set it up so that one uses the other users table.

What is the best work around so that when they login example.com they will not have to login again at example2.com

Many thanks.

EDIT:
Ok I have a fix... but its probably not the best advised one.
Whats the security issue with the following?

Sending the cookie info from 1 domain to the other in the url. I send the user_id and the password_hash across via url and then it sets a new cookie with the information. Its not the cleanest route but having trouble coming up with something that can do the job.

Im guessing its not possible due to security implications. sad

Error Message:

Here is the code:

$replace = array(pun_htmlspecialchars($cur_topic['subject']), date('Y-m-d H:i', $cur_post['posted']), pun_htmlspecialchars($cur_post['poster']), parse_message($cur_post['message'], $cur_post['hide_smilies']), '<a href="">Comments</a> '.$cur_post['num_replies']);

I cant seem to find it.

This is not my code and got help from some one online. Im just trying to test it.

Should be cur_topic

$replace = array(pun_htmlspecialchars($cur_topic['subject']), date('Y-m-d H:i', $cur_post['posted']), pun_htmlspecialchars($cur_post['poster']), parse_message($cur_post['message'], $cur_post['hide_smilies']), '<a href="">Comments</a> '.$cur_topic['num_replies']);

The problem you have is... this is static content. Which means if someone replies it will not update on your news page. It creates static pages. I dont use this mod to produce my news page which is why it will work differently.

I will try to explain a little better. tongue

I will start again. Instead of questions I will say what my intention is and maybe you could point out any faults in it.

I will have two folders. Each folder will contain 20,000 images.

/img/thumbs/***
/img/full/***

Then using PunBB for example.
I would add a field to the 'topics' table called 'images'. My entry for images on one of my topics would be...

image1.jpg|image2.jpg|image3.jpg

Then to use these images I would use PHP to call the topics.images entry. I would then explode the string and paste the code like so. (Rough example below.. I would put it in a loop for all the array entries)

<a href="/img/full/<?php echo $topics.images[0] ?>"><img src="/img/full/<?php echo $topics.images[0] ?>" /></a>

That is the plan I have. I dont see a fault in it... I was just wondering if there is a more efficient way of doing it.
Hope that helps...

I think I have answered your other questions above. Apart from...

Smartys wrote:

how many are loaded on a given page

6 Max.

(10 replies, posted in Programming)

What is the most efficient way to have images stored and called on a site....

Scenario...
Say I have 75,000 images split between 15,000-20,000 (so average 4 per a section/topic).

My questions...
How should I store these images? and also how should I call the images to the page?

My idea...
Would having the filenames in my database and having all the images in one folder be efficient.

On that point... if I stored the filenames like so....

image1.jpg|image2.jpg|image3.jpg

Then use PHP to split and sort the list of images.

Any ideas.... Many thanks

I am close to use the 1.3 beta when I release my new site. Yes, I know it is a beta, and probably lots of bugs and errors, but how else am I going to find the bugs and errors if I only install the forum but never uses it? This way, I will soon find something reportable.

Yes, I know it is a risk but I am willing to take that risk after using hours to make the style fit the rest of the site.

Well rumour has it that paul is going to do a large commit changing quite a bit of the styling code... so unlucky.

I personally dont have anything against people using BETA in production enviorment... as long as they dont moan here when things dont go right for them. Also... styling is really the last thing you should do with the BETA.
