It just looks like you have the username & password wrong.

I've never come across such a thing, but I'm very interested in the idea of having pages that only users of a particular user rank can access. Is such a thing possible?

Ok, I've sort of redesigned it a bit, am using PunFrontpage now, as well as a gallery and all sorts of fun things. http://www.ozphreak.com

Be honest, is english your first language? Because I'm not quite sure exactly what it is you just said then.

Yeah, get rid of <pun_title>, and replace it with something like ... that should do it, and make it so clicking on the banner returns to the forum index (something that I've found to be helpful).

seva - the idea is that if two threads are talking about the same thing, ie linking to some sort of file, however, they're linking to different actual locations, you wouldn't want to merge the topics in date-posted order, you'd want to keep it so the strings of posts remained together. It is very handy though. Also, a nice split topics mod would be nice (there was a Total Management of the Posts, but it was a bit painful to use).

I say then just get rid of the 'delete' button from viewtopic.php tongue

seva - in which context would you use that?

edit: even better, could a command be run directly through the DB Management Plugin (unless that was meant to, and I just can't work out how to implement it)?

Hey, I don't like the idea of deleting threads (although I think the possibility should be there nonetheless). I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to make a mod that added a new button down next to Report, Edit, Delete, Quote etc, that when clicked (and confirmed), would automatically move the entire topic to a 'Trash' forum. Obviously, only the first post of each thread would be able to display the button, and the button should only be visible to admins/moderators.

Any ideas?

Maybe just have a link to some sort of email form, directly to the person you want it to go to, rather than having a forum section at all.

Well, I make up for that by having a 'deleted posts' section, and therefore nothing's ever really lost - I can retrieve any of them. I guess you could do the same, and make it so no-one can see the forum except you, and maybe moderators.

Hmm, Raybo, you really should *edit your posts*, rather than posting three separate ones smile

This is not really a PunBB issue, ask your shell provider.

And if you just have a standard free hosting setup, don't expect to have a shell to log into. You'll have to patch it manually.

But then, www.celestialknights.org.uk wouldn't work with the cookies tongue

Prioritise which one's more important (and if you have cPanel installed, just redirect all traffic from one to the other).

Not really a PunBB problem, more a case of two domains not really being compatable together. Ausphreak has a similar situation (ausphreak.com and networkpunk.com), but if users log in separately to each one, then they'll stay logged in (unless of course they choose not to). Of course, the cookies don't match up, as the domains are different.

Hypothetically, you could set up a redirect that took all traffic from http://celestialknights.org.uk to http://www.celestialknights.org.uk, but I think that as long as you don't dwell on the straight http://[domain] one, people will stop using it soon enough.

What I don't get is, why have moderators that you don't trust, having any sort of control over your board? Seems a little... weird to me.

I'm assuming he'd send the notice out a little later (given that the whole problem was only revealed a few hours ago).

Ok, I'll do that from now on, I just thought that you guys should know tongue

Good to know it helped (and you noticed it much faster through me posting in on the forum than if you were scouring the security boards). Now you have to change the Announcement once again - and realise that there's nothing left after 1.2.9 except 1.3 wink

try http://[forumlocation]/img/[style in use]

They'll have new.gif and nonew.gif in there, or something along those lines.

The most important thing to remember is that it's Style-based, not a generic PunBB thing.

I was wondering if it was possible to make it that deleting a thread would actually move it to a Trash-section etc, and if this would be relatively easy to do.

Censorship works in partial words, ie the fork F U C K can be censored to 'feck', which would in return turn it into 'fecking' 'fecker' etc... you only really need to censor the base words. Besides, with the growth of profanities nowadays, whoever wrote it probably wouldn't be with the current lingo trends anyway.

Admins and moderators could write an extended news article or wiki-style piece without the 'Last edited by' notice coming up. It just looks better.

The fact is, you should trust the Administrators with your entire board, and the moderators with whatever bit they're controlling. Be a little more selective in your choices in the future (also, from experience, you don't need many administators to run a punBB board, given that you can allow moderators to ban users etc. Don't go crazy with dishing out the power).

You really should visit Punres as this is the sort of thing they do.

The style will (most likely) be there, then it's just a matter of following the wiki for the portal. A lot of punBB involves doing-it-yourself, so keep in mind that your forum won't look like that if you're not willing to work for it.

Otherwise just install PunFrontpage, and modify that. That way, it's already mostly done.

If it's just a deal of the styles, you can get rid of the old ones, thus them having no choice.
