Alright, I'll try this on a fresh install so that I don't break anything that is already live. Thanks, will let you guys know how it turns out.

Won't that bring a whole bunch of problems when an upgrade for PunBB is released? Also, will it work with new posts?

Any more suggestions here? This is not resolved. sad

Probably the host who has a low limit on MySQL connections.

Any other suggestions here? Help is much appreciated!

Is it possible to convert the forum (which apparently is using ISO-8859-1) to UTF-8?

Change the lang_encoding in lang/*/common.php to UTF-8

I just tried that but then all the special characters in the forum becomes ?'s and that's not good either.

Ouch. So the forum is not UTF-8 then? What will happen if I change it to that (in config.php if I'm not mistaken?) - will everything look messed up then?

I thought all PunBB forums where UTF-8 by default.

Edit: Oh, and you where right. When changing Wordpress to the ISO you specified the inclusion worked perfectly - Wordpress didn't however as it's meant to use UTF-8.

I'm playing with it here. (Not the "sharp" site.)

This is driving me nuts!

In the forums special characters are working perfectly, but when including extern.php in my Wordpress theme they end up as ?'s. The theme has UTF-8 set so it shouldn't be the problem, but yet it is since it's working on another site. Any suggestions on how to get around this?

Help please!

Great, thanks.

That's weird. What kind of server are you running on?

I'm planning on using the migration tool provided here at punbb.org to migrate a PhpBB forum to PunBB. However, I don't really want to delete the PhpBB forum database, or have it screwed up, until I see that everything is working alright.

So what happens with the databases? Are the PhpBB forum database left intact?

Could someone who knows tell me a little about this? Thanks!

Yes, the web page works but the zip download doesn't. Then again maybe I don't need it, just assumed it contained some other files than what's listed (don't care much about their icons, so if it just contains that then it's not a problem). My bad in that case...

Aww... It continues. sad

The download link on the page is broken, of course. Did you have an e-mail adress for the guy so he can pput it up somewhere else?

Great! Thank you! I'll try it out right away! big_smile

That's really nice of you! Thanks!

Hate to bump this already, but I really need this - and it's getting urgent. Any ideas, anyone?

the link there does not seem to work but im guesing thats what you want.

Exactly! Anyone know where to find this?

Tried that, and the Punres.org forums, without any luck. sad

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a mod that let's users choose an icon that'll display in front of the post? Much like some other forum systems smileys, question marks and so on?

What I want is this in the listing:

[icon] Here's my topic title [rest of stuff]
[icon] Another topic [rest of stuff]

A bunch of icons to help identify what the post is all about, in short.

Is there a mod? If not, would someone help me out?

Since I initially only made it for myself to use, I'm sure it's pretty easy to break. It could probably use a few more try/catch blocks, but what the hell smile It's released under the GPL.

Sweet! Just tried it out and it worked fine with my little test run. I think I'll give it a real go tomorrow with a mailing list of mine.

One thing kinda bugged me though: the tab index is really weird in the program, heh. Not a big deal really, though.

Also, others who want to try it out should get the .NET framework from Micosoft's website. If you're running a virus scanner on outgoing mail you probably would want to disable it while you are sending.

Great work Rickard! Thanks!

Good mailers are rare. You don't feel like sharing the one you wrote? I'm having simular problems.

Sure. Just let me make it a little bit more suitable for distribution. Right now, a lot of things are hard-coded.

Great! Looking forward to trying it out!

Nice to see that you were able to send without Telia eating it as spam - one at a time with 5 seconds inbetween or what method are you using?

Actually, I didn't put any kind of delay in there and it appears to have worked anyway. I'll add an option to wait X milliseconds between each send.

You probably should have that option, especially when we're talking larger bulks. Most good mailers (and some bad) use that kind of wait-functions to avoid spam-markings from servers and ISP's.
