Hi!

To prevent spam users to registers accounts, a nice function would to be able to set the maximum number of dots (.) allowed in an email address. The default value would be (I think) one (1) (but it should of course be possible to change this by admin).

Many of the typical spammers use email addresses like this:  cos.ens.ha.f.s.ha.k@gmail.com

To allow "real" users with more than the allowed number of dots there could be an exception list of approved email addresses that admin could register when needed.

What do you think?

Thanks for quick response!

No, I didn't try it myself. It was a spam account that was created and since the browser saves what I have IP blocked before and displays it below the IP field in a "pop up" I notice that I had already blocked this partial IP number before.

Maybe I'm running an old installation, I think we haven't updated for a year or so...

What is otherwise the best way to prevent spammer registrations? Is it to install the pun_stop_bots v0.2? (we have about 30 spam accounts registered each day).

Hi!

I'm having a problem with IP blocking.

If I for instance block IP number 222.47.33.132  and also add a blocking of 222.47.33 it still seems to be possible for someone with IP number 222.47.33.133 to register.  Shouldn't then all IP-numbers in the span 222.47.33.000  -- 222.47.33.999 be blocked?

Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding how it should work?

Thanks for any help in advance!
