Many thanks!! I went ahead and refreshed all the essential 1.2.14 files just in case something might have been tampered with. I really appreciate the support and great advice! It was super!

Could the fact that I left that install.php file there have been the way someone got in?

I REALLY appreciate all your help here. You can grab the file at http://www.calvarychapelontario.com/install.php

Thanks again!

Wait, was the install.php the default PunBB install.php or something else?

How would I know? Would I be safe just adding a fresh install.php file from the PunBB archive?

Make sure to look for any backdoors he left and try to figure out how he got them in in the first place. It looks like your site is on a dedicated server, so I'm not sure exactly how he would have done it.

I've never been hacked before. What kinds of things should I look for?

When I attempted to run my forum initially I got this page: http://www.calvarychapelontario.com/hack.html

You can see that this page points to an install.php file!! What's up with that? I renamed the file.

Thanks for the reply. Do you recognize this hacker?

I'm running 1.2.14. I had a backup copy of the config.php file so I renamed it and was able to log on. Forum seems to be running okay. Other than changing user name and passwords, any other suggestions?

Paul

I logged onto my forum today and found that had been hacked. Webpage came up saying config.php was missing or corrupt, but there was a title on the page saying "`sei OwnZ your box!" and an icon that looked like this:
http://www.calvarychapelontario.com/images/sei.jpg

I have already renamed my index.php file so no one else can get on until I get this fixed. I have two questions:

1. What do I need to do to repair this?

2. How can I make sure this doesn't happen again?

Thanks!

Anyone know why the bbcode tag [size][/size] doesn't appear to work on my board with text?

Paul

I have had a couple users who are having trouble logging in. They enter their user name and PW correctly, and PunBB looks like it's accepting their info and logging them in, but when the page comes up they are faced with the same login page. NO error message, just the same page.

In SOME cases we've been able to resolve the issue (albeit temporarily) by having them reduce the security settings in Windows IE.

Does anyone know what's causing this and is there anything I can do the board to eliminate this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Hey gang,

The last bit of code for this mod goes like this:

#
#---------[ 9. OPEN ]
#

lang/English/profile.php

#
#---------[ 10. ADD ]
#

'Upload avatar'            =>    'Upload avatar',
'Select avatar'            =>    'Select avatar',
'Avatar_gallery'        =>    'Avatar Gallery',
'Avatar_Error'            =>    'You didnt select an avatar you wanted to use. Please go back and check one.',

But it doesn't say WHERE to insert this code. I've added in two different places and either place caused different things to happen, neither of which was good. Can someone help??

I added a Mod to be able to have an Avatar gallery

One of the final aspects of the Mod said:

2) In the code you just added, find:

    // changeme
    define('CPG_PATH', '../coppermine/');

and fill in the local or full path to your coppermine directory - not an url !

I'm having trouble with that path, and the install file wasn't very helpful. What should I place here?? I added an Avatar folder and attempted to enter a path here to that folder, but I keep getting the following error message:

Warning: main(/home/calvaryc/public_html/ccforums/avatar/include/config.inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/calvaryc/public_html/ccforums/profile.php on line 447

Warning: main(/home/calvaryc/public_html/ccforums/avatar/include/config.inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/calvaryc/public_html/ccforums/profile.php on line 447

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/home/calvaryc/public_html/ccforums/avatar/include/config.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/calvaryc/public_html/ccforums/profile.php on line 447

Can anyone give me a hand?

I'm very new to punBB and I must say I am impressed! PunBB is simple and yet elegant. So many of the other BBSs out there are just vague copies of all the others. But this one was truly designed with some terrific features. Installation was a snap, and configuring the board has been nothing short of delightful! Everytime I click a new link on the Admin control panel I catch myself saying, "Hey, that's so cool!"

Anyway, just wanted to say THANKS and I look forward to more great stuff to come!!
