It's not a matter of right and wrong, it has to do with giving the user choice. With PunBB's way the user has choice, whereas the other way the user doesn't smile
Plus, as Connor also said, without javascript you would have invalid XHTML
And personally I don't think it's annoying to have to open a new window if you want one: I just hit Ctrl and then click to load a new tab tongue

i think it is. a user who reads a thread usually dont want to leave the messages and then always go back to messages after finished browsing the site the link was pointing to.
and it is annoying to always right click - open link in new tab...

So, if it's a matter of choise, then most user useually wants most links to auto-open in a new win, and for those who don't they can just open the link then close the topic's win by r-c n' close! Wouldn't that be easier?

This way, less annoynes will face users! smile

Well OK, because this may be geed for most users, but aren't there mods for converting specific links to an auto-open-in-new-tab/window?

I know that this is an old topic, but could you tell us what happened with you forums?
u got all the users registered for all forums but still thye have to login for each is that right?

Well I this it will be beter if links in posts body automatically opens in new tab/window, because oftenly links are references to something and a viewer don't want to go forward and back to continue reading the topic/posts.

Although it is a bit bothering to r-c and 'open in new window' for each link we want to see whats behind it and.

Thats also with the user info, user profile and some others but not the forums and thopics indexs.

And PunBB will be perfect for me smile

I totally agree with Reines.
Think of a subject you are good in for your forum, this will give you easy moderation, improvement in the subject you'r good in and one-goalled members. Although think of a subect that is NEW and not repeated so your forum can have a unieque idea.

well, I, sometimes save and save files directly to desktop for quick acces (like Rickard said), but I end with an over full-iconned desktop! so I become compelled to go through C:\Documents and Settings\**\Desktop.... the hole path!
HOW BUSSY?!

Moved to PunBB discussions as it's not an actual software change.

It's an interesting concept I guess, but I'm not sure how many people would actually follow through and do it.

Well, I think this should be followed by moderators themselves and write 'solved' in the same way each time as a stamp.

excuse me, how do you get number of forums use punbb?

He doesn't. The statistics he got is from http://punbbig.shacknet.nu which no longer adds new boards. This is why I created http://stats.punres.org/

The number he uses in the presentation is how many boards that are registered at PunBBig, and not how many people that uses PunBB. For a better view of how many users PunBB got, use Google smile

exactly, my stat where from punbbig
thanx for letting me know about yours

Hi all,

Today, at the university, an Oral Communication class, I have presnted a real nice presentation that I was working on weeks ago about PunBB with the name "PunBB, An E-forum Recommended By Me!". Somehow, it was an advertisment, but first, I gave a general idea about communities, E-communities, E-forums through PunBB just to make sure that thers at least a little background about board and stuff.

The presentation atrracted everybodies admiration that made the ask me more and more even after the class, but the most important thing was that the doctor said "Fahad, you had the A!" smile

Most pleasent thanks to Ricard Anderson,,
