thanks alot, using the pre installed avatar gallery , I can upload the avatars into the directory manually, so they can be selected by the user, slight bit more hassle, but gets round the problem

hey
i have recently set up a new forum http://www.bath.ac.uk/~su7jitsu/forum/index.php
i'm having trouble uploading avatars. i have set the permission of the avatar folder and cache folder to 777, using a sftp client. However when i try uplaoding a avatar it says "You did not select a file for upload."
I cant think how to fix this
any help would be appreciated.
