At some point in the future, would it be possible to get something to start working before the code hits beta?

Hello thar!
I am looking to create a few plugins/extentions for Pun 1.3. I am wondering if there is any sort of official guidelines/demos/code specs you guys have released so I can at least get the bulk of the code down, and then just test/tweak it when beta comes around. Are there any guidlines or anything you can help us anxious mod makers with?
