Thanks for the inputs from both

Hi,
Not sure if this has been addressed, but I would like to hide the IP address from users who are making a posting... I looked through the administration options but was unable to find the answer.
appreciate any suggestions that you have,
thanks,
cutweed
I have a section that I use for posting the latest news and development for the website; I use RSS feed to update the main page so that frequent DB retrieve is not necessary; however, the formatting (e.g. tabs and returns) is lost when the text is converted to RSS. If I use HTML codes (e.g. <br>, ) it would show up in the normal posting.
Is there a solution to this?
Example:
http://www.sensualinteractive.com/forum … .php?id=24
(How it looks in the main page - Latest Updates 2007-04-28)
http://www.sensualinteractive.com/si/home.php
Is there a way that so that the message would look the same?
thanks,
cutweed
sorry, I am a bit lost here; not sure what you are referring to... I don't think I have any popups other than when you click on an ad it opens a new browser window. Is that what you are referring to?
thanks for your comment still doing what I can in progressing the site and balancing with a full-time job,

Quaker, thanks for the suggestion; but am trying to avoid being a spammer... In any case, I made some minor updates to the site if anyone's interested in re-visiting;
feel free to comment on the context and content
thanks,

Quick question (not really punBB-related):
I was told that I should have Search Engine Optimization on my website. Since I am not too familiar with the term, I decided to look it up on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_eng … imization;
but what I found didn't impress me much... First of all, I wouldn't know how to 'properly' SEO my website. Secondly, I could potentially follow all of the suggestions mentioned on Wiki and hope Google or Yahoo! would place me higher in the rank when people search for relevant keywords; however, there is no guarantee as there are thousands of sites (given that none of them in personalizing the service devoted to this topic and my marketing budget is currently zipped.
Instead, I will try to promote my site via other means (e.g. word of mouth, contact magazines, online forums, etc.).
Please feel free to advise if I am mistaken in this topic, or ways that I can use SEO properly;
your inputs are more than welcome,
cutweed
Thanks everyone for your compliments and feedbacks.
Especially to:
- hcgtv, downliner: Yea, I know the ads are kind of out of sync... Hopefully, I'll figure out a better way to cover my cost other than click-through ads.
- quaker: Yes, you are more than welcome to add the site to your links!
- sirena: Thanks for that detailed review. The site was originally scheduled to go live on the 14th February but I missed that date, so I was under so much pressure in getting the site released in February... Anyway, I'll make sure that the content gets reviewed more carefully before my next release. By the way, the errors have been corrected. Also, in regards to your comments on sensuality, I understand it's not just a list of sexual positions, but as I mentioned on my site, it's only the 1st release; I'll have more related content and features added in subsequent releases; please visit soon for more updates

Thanks for everyone's feedback; so here is the site if anyone's interested:

I have released my new website about sensuality (contains softcore content). With it, I included a punBB forum for discussions on sensuality; your comments or inputs are highly welcome.

I am just wondering what kind of sites that you would allow to use punBB. I am building a sensuality website (it has softcore content) that would like to have a discussion forum around this topic. Just want to know whether I am allowed to use punBB for this purpose.
Please advise,
thanks,
cutweed
Thanks for both of your inputs, any chance that you could suggest what kind of changes needed in dblayer? I figure that I should standardize all my data into one engine as my other portion is in InnoDB; not sure if matters much...

Hi,
just 2 quick questions on converting all PunBB tables from MyISAM to InnoDB:
- Will it work without making any modification to PunBB?
- Can I delete all *.myd and *.myi without impacting the functionality and performance of the application/database?
I appreciate your help,
cutweed
Hi,
I am intergrating punBB with my new website, which is developed in PHP and mostly in functions; this is where the problem begins...
with the standard protocols to include punBB user info:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
$lang_common = 'English';
define('PUN_TURN_OFF_MAINT', 1);
define('PUN_QUIET_VISIT', 0);
define('PUN_ROOT', '../forum/');
require PUN_ROOT.'include/common.php';
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Therefore, I am facing two choices:
- whether to include this block of codes in a function and globalize $pun_user
- or to have the codes in an included file and pass the variables into the functions that I needed
I appreciate any suggestion and help,
thanks in advance,
cutweed
