Actually no, it wouldn't require anything like that. It would involve coding up a single PHP file that acts like a gateway to the database. If you can run PunBB then you should be able to use this interface without any special server tweaking required. If we had this special PHP file (implementing a SOAP or REST interface) we could then have a desktop app communicate with the database via this new access point.

I thought I might add to this thread by asking, would anyone be interested in a desktop client to administer their PunBB installations? I would be interested to hear any thoughts/comments on this from those who are moderating or administering forums out in the wild.

Oops! After re-reading your post I realized that you were referring to the APIs and not the availability of a desktop client. Sorry, my bad! And thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. Am I correct that there are currently no SOAP/REST interfaces available for such a project?

Hello all,

I was just wondering if it was possible to moderate a PunBB installation from the desktop. I was thinking a Mac OS X Cocoa app would be ideal. I guess this would require some kind of a SOAP or REST interface which I didn't see from browsing the source code. Is there anything like this out there?

Thanks!
