Ok, thanks. Not go all the way with 1.3.x?

Hi,

we run a 1.2.15 version of punBB at www.hotsailsmaui.com/forum/ and it seem to have been hacked or exploited by cross-site scripting because the index.php reports there's a "<" too many (or something. I haven't delved into it yet) and two of the forum users report that they were prompted to download a PDF, which then were recognized as been infected with Trojan.Pidief.C by their AV SW.

Could someone here help me out what to do / start with?

Hi,

sorry if this has been discussed already. Tried searching and couldn't find anything regarding it though.

A forum of mine has been harassed by spam bots lately (2-3 posts a day on a forum where 10 posts a day are considered much) and as a counter measure I just upgraded to 1.2.15. Thn I thought I'd add image verification and downloaded the one here: http://www.punres.org/files.php?pid=59
However, that one only suports 1.2.3 and 1.2.4. Can anyone confirm that it also works with 1.2.15 and if so, how do I install it? Or, should I use another image verification mod? (I don't want to go the captcha-route with a small clickable field)

Seems some bots have solved iota's spam prevention. I've been getting several spams this week on a forum I administer and all those spambots have -12 as timezone depsite having iota's fix.
To deal with this, I'm changing my input value and input description as well and also removing all the if-cases in the code to set one option value as selected (so that none of my option values are selected. I don't want to give the spambots any hint), to see if that help. The spamb*st*rds shan't win...

Yup, the test installation going from 1.0.1 to 1.2.14 went just fine.

Would you believe it... This dumb(_*_) (that is; me), uploaded the contents of the ../upload/-folder to exactly just that... ../upload/. Duh... Instead of copying the contents for the forum root. No wonder I didn't get any messages.

Thanks for you time. Sorry for being so stoopid.

Sorry, can't do, I'm on an ISP...

Nope, how do I do that and should I do it? (I'm a punBB noob...)

The 1.1 version found in the museum: http://punbb.org/download/museum/punbb-1.1.zip

Hi all,

I have a friend who's running a 1.0.1 forum and having some troubles with it (mySQL errors). He also wished to upgrade it and also move it to another domain. So I thought I'd help him out.

Before trying on the live server, I tried it on my own domain. Installed 1.0.1, made some posts and then uploaded 1.1 and ran the 10_to_11_update.php in the forum root (www.mydomain.org/forum/) as stated in the installation docs. The docs said that a message should occur. That did not happen.
I tried running it again but with the same results.
Entered my test-forum again, just to get served an empty page sad

This wasn't very encouraging for upgrading my friends 1.0.1 forum...

So, could anyone help out here?

Also, is it perhaps possible to just skip all the upgrading hassles and go directly to 1.2.14? I mean, the guy is going to swap domain and wants to have the punBB installed there too, but do NOT want to get rid of all the previous postings from the old domain. Is that feasible? If so, how?

Tah in advance
/Niclas
