Topic: freshmeat.net not up to date

It'd be nice if the freshmeat.net project page would be kept up to date when new releases come out.

Thanks

Yeah, I know. It's just such a pain to update. Someone really should think up a syndication format for program updates. There's one, can't remember what it's called, but it's way too complex.

Re: freshmeat.net not up to date

Instead of updating all the fields, it might be easier to create symbolic links for everything, e.g.
/download/punbb-latest-stable.tar.bz2 will be a symbolic link to
/download/punbb-1.2.10.tar.bz2
And then you'd only need to change the version information.

Re: freshmeat.net not up to date

Well, the pain is not only doing that stuff, but having to log in everywhere (not only freshmeat) and update the info. It's 2006, these things should happen automatically.

Here, here!

I totally agree, there should be some easy mechanism in place for software developers to signal when there's been an update to their projects.

Heck, I could really use it.
