Re: Firefox 2.0

One of the things that had bothered me in the past was if you had a number of tabs open and you middle clicked a link, the focus would take you to the last tab, at least that's how I have it configured. When you closed that tab after reading the story, the focus would leave you on the last tab, rather than take you back to the tab you had clicked from. Well now, it works like to should, I am now a quicker surfer - thanks Firefox.

Oh, and the spell checking is working great also, I had gotten used to SpellBound already.

Re: Firefox 2.0

It's nice and all, but it still needs work. Just took the Acid2 test, and it still fails. Memory consumption is also rather bad still, but it does seem to be better than the 1.5.x series.

I don't see myself switching from Opera anytime this decade if nothing extraordinary happens, but I will probably be using FF more than I'm doing currently when the final version is released smile

Re: Firefox 2.0

Is it safe to upgrade to that, or better to wait for the official 2.0 releace

Now, if only they would fix this, I would be a happy camper. HttpOnly cookies are a great idea. In short, it means that if you set a HttpOnly cookie, you can't access the contents of that cookie via client side scripting. This essentially makes cross site scripting useless.

I just did. They're just waiting on approval at addons.mozilla.org. pogenwurst, hurry big_smile

Edit: Just saw this in the e-mail I got reminding me to update my extension:

Firefox Product Team wrote:

As an extra incentive, we're planning on sending a limited edition "Bon Echo" ExtensionTeam shirt to each and every extension developer who validates their extensions for Firefox 2 with an update posted to addons.mozilla.org by midnight pacific time on Sunday, October 1st 2006.

How will they send it to me? They don't have my address?

Re: Firefox 2.0

I deactivated the compatibility checking and I've got all extensions and themes working again. Web Developer is working fine, some of the themes are not doing so good but the default theme ain't bad for now.

about:config, right click, select new -> Boolean, for the name use extensions.checkCompatibility, and for a value select false.

Heheh, that's a handy thing smile

*applies patch*

I just approved both so hopefully they should be up shortly.

Feel free to email me if you need approval in the future, because I don't check in on the queue much at all anymore (although I probably should, as there are currently 284 extensions / themes awaiting approval tongue ).

Re: Firefox 2.0

Is anyone else having problems with the titlebar and address bar not changing properly when switching tabs?

Right now (doing quick post on this thread), my titlebar says "[594] (changeset) - PunBB - Trac" and the addressbar has Trac's paw print icon but says "http://punbb.org/forums/login.php".

How odd. This didn't happen in Beta 2.

Re: Firefox 2.0

And now the titlebar has changed to reflect the title of this page, but the addressbar has remained the same except it now has the default icon for pages without favicons.

Re: Firefox 2.0

pogenwurst, are you running a theme other than the default 2.0 one?

And no, I haven't encountered any problems so far. I'm running the Default theme, Web Developer that got compatible today and Adsense notifier.

Re: Firefox 2.0

No. However, I just remembered that I installed a few extensions from Mozilla Updates queue yesterday (one of which affects the addressbar), so I'm going to do some investigation and determine whether one of them needs to be denied approval. wink

Validation of the Acid2 test will be okay with Gecko 1.9, with FF 3.0.

FF 2.0 uses Gecko 1.8.1 : http://wiki.mozilla.org/ReleaseRoadmap wink

I never knew Rickard had an extension for FireFox out there...which one is it and what's it do?

Nice.  The clipboard save as feature is very handy.
