Topic: When will the PunBB 1.3 be released?

We've waited for it for over two years, and we feel exhausted and bored. When will the PunBB 1.3 be released? 2008? 2009? Or even 2010 as phpBB users have waited for v.3 for over 5 years? No deadline?

I just wonder the answer. I am affraid of delaying.

There's still alot of work to do, but I'd say a beta is fairly close.

Edit: I changed the report so that you can see the tickets by milestone (look for 1.3 milestone)

i think we all do, but like all good things you just got to wait.

The developers do have real lives, families and jobs to worry about, you cant always click your finger and its done.

they arnt getting any money at the moment for there software, so just be grateful they have produced a high quality free forum software

but for now, we have to look at the dev blog and http://punbb.info/three/index.html for a little taste

The donators donate because they are happy with the software and wish to express their content. They are by no means paying the developers to make 1.3.

I follow SVN, I only see Neal and Rickard committing changes, yet there are 7 developers on the PunBB project. On this forum, Neal(Smartys) again is the only active developer with Paul posting every so often, I wonder where everybody else is these days?

for the future of pun, maybe it's better if any of the 7 developers are too busy they should step down and handover to someone else who can do it...
the 'All Tickets by Milestone' page should have another column called: 'due by' to show when the developer expects to have the ticket closed by...

Yes, but I have tested 1.3-dev and works perfectly.. For me added small features in additional and the result is wonderfull bulletin board wink

The HTML/CSS has been redone, a lot of code has been modified. I'd say that by the time 1.3 is released, most lines of code will have been modified at least once.

Worked fine on linux, but on windows (tortoisesvn) it asks for password... hmmm

I used RapidSVN to grab a copy of the latest SVN snapshot, and I must say that I like it.  A little unstable on a WAMP system with using the mod_rewrite stuff, not sure why, and only the oxygen theme is updated ... but those are to be expected.

Nice work Smartys.  Keep it up, because it feels just the same as the PunBB 1.2.15 I've been toying with.  I will probably use 1.3 instead, actually, so long as database changes aren't needed between the pre-alpha copies. wink

Database changes can and do happen, but the db_update.php file should be a welcome change. Just copy it from the extras directory, run it, and your database should be brought up to date. I say should because especially with the SVN copies there might be small bugs that are later corrected.

As for the mod_rewrite stuff, could you give some specific examples? We know that it isn't working 100% yet, I'm just curious how it's working for you so far smile

Well, it's not working at all.  Now, I can view the index via the standard "forum" directory style.  However, should I click any link the page does not show with a server error.  Neither the standard file style formatting, nor the fancy file style formatting work.  Unfortunately to revert my settings I have to enter the actual standard url address into the location bar to access the page, and then use Firebug to mangle the post action into the valid address -- just to revert back to the default no rewrite settings.

As I said I'm on a WAMP system, using XAMPP, with PHP 5.2.1 and MySQL Improved 5.0.33.
