Topic: How can I temporarily take down or disable my forums?

Hello,

My client is using PunBB on her website and the forums are on the home page.  She wants to temporarily take them down for a few months and have the ability to restore everything when she's ready to resume.  I see that I could put the forums in Maintenance mode, but the warning about not logging out tells me that's not the best way to do it.

I've searched these forums and I must not be using the right terms because I can't seem to find anything about it.  So, can anyone suggest the best way to do this?  Basically, she wants a message to be displayed that the forums are down for now whenever someone visits the url.

Thanks!

Maintenance mode is the best way. The not logging out warning is because there is no way to log back in if you log out in maintenance mode. When your client wants to bring the forum back up, she'll have to upload the turn_off_maintenance_mode.php script from the extras folder to enable the forum again.
