Topic: Ext? Forum for VIP members, limit forum access to specific usergroups.

Is there an extension that allows you to limit access to some forum to only a selected user group.

Say:

General Discussion - All registered users
Music - All registered users
VIP Discussion - Only members of VIP group
Admin Discussion - Only admins

Etc something that allows access regulation.

easy, you dont need extension for this.

Create groups for each of these groups from admin > users > groups page.

Then go to admin page > start > forums > and edit the forums and specify each group you want to see that forums

Ye i missed it under Edit xD

One more question i am going to merge my website login and forum login how is password encrypted in punBB. My site uses sha1 username and password combo.

I want registration to be combined as well when someone registers for my page he also gets forum account but password needs to be encrypted the same.

You can have PunBB handle the registration, then integrate PunBB's login with your main site. Click the search field at the top of this forum, and you'll be surprised how many results it gives you for just the word "login".

Though if you already have lots of users registered outside of PunBB on your main site, that would provide an inconvenience for everybody.
