Show only last post from specified topic on frontpage

Hi,

I've looked the forums here but can't really find:

I would like to have my website's frontpage to display the last post of a specified forum topic. It seems to me it's the only (fastest) way to simulate a 'news' item on my website's homepage. Only moderators and admins can post in the topic, and the last post is always shown on the homepage. Is it doable?
