Topic: new users through admin?

I know that there's currently no way to moderate the registration process so that an administrator would have to approve any new registrant.

What I'm wondering if there's a way to add new users through the admin screens if I turn off the allow new registrations option.

I'm looking essentially to create a private forum where new registrations are not open to the public, but can be done by an administrator.

Has anyone accomplished something like this?  Thanks for any help.

I know that this isn't a PunBB solution but you can do it via phpMyadmin.

The password field is md5, you select this as a function when entering the password and your text password is automatically converted.

Re: new users through admin?

I would be comfortable using phpMyAdmin but I'm doing this for someone else and I don't want to make them do that.

Any word on when 1.2 will be released?

I guess my plan of attack will be to create another version of register.php and place it somewhere that I can protect using HTTP_AUTH.

Thanks for the help.

Re: new users through admin?

i guess in 1.2 you could just choose disable registrations and make a very simple plugin to create users
