May i ask, why don't use latest beta as default punbb.org forum script? It would be much easier for you and us to test it, under real conditions.

because it is a beta and this site is meant to be what you get when downloading the latest punbb, beta does not mean finished

Yeah, sounds logical. I thought 1.2 was stable enough for prime use.

From the beta announcement topic:
I wouldn't call it production quality just yet, but it appears to be quite stable. In other words, don't upgrade your production forums just yet, but feel free to make a copy of your production forums to play with.
