well i just finished integrating punbb into my site, i'm happy, except for i couldn't get 4-5 things to validate, and it wont let me do php includes in the main.tpl, so my navigation bar has to be hard coded every time i update it. but never the less, it works and the regular user cant tell.

you can do php includes http://punbb.org/docs/faq.html#faq3_4 the reason its not valid is because you took the doctype out of main.tpl

no, i'm going to put a link back to punbb at the bottom, i just didn't like so many "boxes" on the page, i'm not trying to pass anything off as my own, i could never create a forum like this. and thanks for telling me about the doctype i took that out at first to see if i was editing the right file and forgot to put it back in... :-D
putting the doctype back in didn't allow me to use php includes 
no, the doctype is to make it valid like i said, for php includes read the FAQ

so what that faq say is i should be able to do this:

i tried it and got a lot of php errors.
i then tried doing it relative to the forum directory
<pun_include "somefile.php">
i then got more errors...
what errors?
